MY STORY

My name is Cường, and I’m the proud author behind Uncle Cuong Brewery

I’m a craft beer enthusiast, a devoted homebrewer, and the mind behind some truly questionable brewing experiments since 2021. Based in the north of Brisbane, I’ve turned my garage into a mini brewery where the magic happens – along with a fair amount of spilled malt and hops.

Uncle Cuong Brewery is my passion project, born from a love of great beer and the thrill of creating something from scratch. This blog is my way of sharing the highs, the lows, and the occasionally flat pours of my brewing adventures. Here, you’ll find tales of triumph, recipes for success (and disasters), a peek at my trusty garage brewery setup, and the invaluable lessons learned along the way.

The story began in 2021, in the depths of a Covid lockdown. With too much time on my hands and a Coopers DIY Beer Brew Kit, I decided to tackle the ultimate pandemic project: brewing beer. My first creation was an Australian lager, brewed in an old fridge I snagged off Facebook Marketplace for $100. It was a humbling (and slightly foamy) experience but also one of the most rewarding DIY projects I’ve ever attempted. I learnt the basics of lager brewing and discovered a new obsession.

Next came batch number two: a Pale Ale. With wifey’s approval to invest another $50 in bottles and bottling equipment, I dove into the world of hops. This batch taught me how to enhance fragrance, flavor, and foam retention. And it earned a much-coveted thumbs up from my in-house quality control (a.k.a. my wife).

Through every success and misstep, homebrewing has been a wild and wonderful ride. Uncle Cuong Brewery is where I document it all, from experimental recipes to the joys of sharing my creations with friends and family.

If you love beer, DIY projects, or just want to laugh at my brewing fails, you’re in the right place. Drop me a line if you want to connect, share a brewing tip, or just chat about beer. Cheers to good brews and even better stories! 🍻
